California Rodeo Salinas Mutton Busting

July 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 2025

Rules:

  • Child must be within 4-7 years of age on day of show
  • Child must be a maximum weight of 60 pounds on day of show – Child will be weighed by Track Staff before ride
  • A $50.00 entry fee will be charged if name is drawn – NO REFUNDS for cancellations or non-qualifications.
  • NEW THIS YEAR: If selected, each contestant is responsible for tickets/entry to get into the event for themselves & their family members. No complimentary tickets will be provided.
  • There will be a winner each performance with a buckle presented to the champion.
  • Day of ride, one adult will be allowed to accompany child onto Track. You will be given appropriate credentials before the ride.
  • Right to Cancel: California Rodeo shall have the exclusive right to cancel the event at any time up to the date of the event if the event is materially impacted as a result of COVID-19 restrictions in any way, or for any reason whatsoever.
  • Submitting a form does not guarantee that the child will be selected to ride. Do not submit more than one form per child.
  • Incomplete forms will not be considered.
  • Mandatory: Rodeo supplied helmet & vest must be worn to ride (NO EXCEPTIONS)!!
  • No spurs allowed.

***Submit Entries ONLINE ONLY between April 1st and April 30th, 2025.

***Entries will be drawn and riders will be notified by the end of the day on May 8, 2025. Please DO NOT call the office, we will notify selected riders. If drawn, payments are due by May 14th. If payment is not received by May 14th, we will move down the wait-list to fill the contestant roster.

There will be a champion every day, contestants won't come back on Sunday for a short round.
Father's Name:
All parents must sign a release of liability on the day of ride in order for your child to participate.

We, on behalf of any minor participant(s) and for ourselves, our personal representatives, heirs, next of kin, spouses and assigns, do hereby:

  • Acknowledgment of Risk: The Undersigned on behalf of Minor participant(s) acknowledges that rodeos are dangerous and that the participation in rodeo events or related activities, as either a contestant, an employee or volunteer, exposes the participant to a substantial and serious risk of property damage, personal injury or death. The Undersigned expressly acknowledges that minor’s participation in the California Rodeo Salinas will involve such a hazard and that there is Inherent Danger in rodeo that we each appreciate and voluntarily assume on our and minor’s behalf.
  • Release of Sponsors: The Undersigned/Minor being fully aware that participation in the California Rodeo Salinas will expose him/her to substantial and serious risk of property damage and/or personal injury or death, hereby releases all Sponsors from liability for any and all property damage, personal injuries or other claims arising from the Undersigned/Minor’s participation in the California Rodeo including those that are known and unknown, foreseen and unforeseen, future or contingent.
  • Hold Harmless and Indemnification: The Undersigned/Minor indemnify and hold harmless California Rodeo, Inc. from any claims, damages, losses, injuries, attorney fees, demands or expenses of any nature or kind and causes of action that may result from contestant’s participation in all California Rodeo, Inc. events.
  • Release, Waive, Discharge and Covenant Not to Sue: The Undersigned/Minor covenants that the Undersigned/Minor shall not now or at any time in the future, directly or indirectly, commence or prosecute any action, suit or other proceeding against the sanctioning organizations or any subdivision thereof; California Rodeo, Inc., the City of Salinas, rodeo producer(s), stock contractor(s), chute contractor(s), arena operator(s), official(s), or any person(s) in any restricted area; officials, promoters, advertisers, Sponsors, Officers, Directors, employees, agents or affiliates, concerning, arising out of, or related to the actions, causes of action, claims and demands hereby waived, released, or discharged by the Undersigned.
  • Assurances: The Undersigned on behalf of said Minor has full power, authority, capacity and right without limitation to execute, deliver and perform this Release.
  • Binding Affect: This Release shall be binding upon the Undersigned and the Undersigned’s spouse, legal representatives, heirs, successors and assigns.

We further understand that other contestants and participants pose a danger to the Undersigned/Minor, but nevertheless, EACH VOLUNTARILY ELECT TO ACCEPT ALL RISKS connected with the participants entry in any rodeo events or related activities.


  • THE PARENTS, CUSTODIAN, OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF EACH CONTESTANT MUST SIGN ALL RELEASES, WAIVERS AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENTS IF CONTESTANT/CARRIER IS UNDER THE AGE OF 18.
  • IF THERE IS ONLY ONE PARENT, CUSTODIAN OR LEGAL GUARDIAN, THAT PERSON WILL ASSUME ALL LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
