The
California Rodeo Salinas celebrates its 25th Stick Horse Race
Anniversary this year, presented by Northridge Mall. On Thursday night of the
Rodeo, children ages 3-8 have the opportunity to win an official winners buckle
while riding their trusted stick horse steed.
The race
starts at 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 16th and children can register
near the McDonald’s Kid Corral from 4:00 – 4:30pm leading up to the race. The
race will take place on the track, with participants divided into age groups of
3-4, 5-6 & 7-8 year olds. The finalists from each age group get to come
back during the performance to race on the track in front of the crowd. The
winner of each age group will be receiving a buckle donated by Black Bear
Diner. Participants must bring their own stick horse in order to race.
As part of
the anniversary celebration, the California Rodeo Salinas would love to see
photos from past participants of our stick horse races. Photos can be posted to
the Rodeo’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CARodeoSalinas.
Tickets for
the Rodeo are available at www.carodeo.com, 1034 N. Main Street or by calling
