SALINAS, CA – June 25, 2013- Six young ladies will travel to
Salinas in July with the hope of taking home the title of Miss California Rodeo
Salinas 2013. The competition will start on Wednesday July 17th and
the winner will be named during the opening performance of the 103rd
California Rodeo Salinas on Thursday July 18th at 6pm. She will
represent the California Rodeo Salinas for an entire year, traveling to
parades, rodeos and other events. The contestants are Jordenne Burns-Miss
Rowell Ranch Rodeo, Taylor Howell-Miss Mother Lode Round Up, Carollann Rietta
Scott-Miss Aqua Dulce Women’s Club, Erin Stueve-Miss Rodeo Oakdale, Grace
Tobias-Miss San Benito Rodeo and Marin Wolgamott-Miss Cal Poly Rodeo.
The competition will consist of horsemanship, personality,
appearance and scholastics. The contest winner will receive the title of Miss
California Rodeo Salinas 2013 along with a $2,500 cash scholarship, gold and
silver trophy belt buckle, a gold and silver tiara, the use of a two-horse
trailer for one year and many other lovely gifts.
On Thursday July 18th, Miss California Rodeo
Salinas 2012, Tracy Hinson, and the current Rodeo President, Benny Jefferson,
will present the new Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2013 with her title on the
track after the Grand Entry and just before the Rodeo starts.

Jordenne Burns
From the gold rush town of Placerville Jordenne Burns will compete as Miss Rowell Ranch Rodeo. The daughter of Manuel Burns and Nancy Stoll
currently attends Folsom Lake College and plans to transfer to CSU San Jose to
pursue a degree in business. She has
dreams of working in the western fashion world. Belonging to numerous equine associations Jordenne has successfully
competed for points and awards in western pleasure in state and out of
state. As a member of District 3 High
School Rodeo she competed in barrel racing and pole bending while making
lasting friendships and educating her fellow classmates on the sport of
rodeo. Other interests in high school
included FFA, track, cheerleading and school ambassador. As Miss Rowell Ranch
Rodeo she thoroughly enjoyed speaking to different people and traveling to
events and rodeos. In her spare time she
enjoys yoga, cooking, gardening, dance and designing some of her own clothes.
Taylor Howell
Hailing from Sonora Taylor Howell represents her home town rodeo as Miss Mother Lode Round Up. The daughter of Gary and Krista Howell plans
to attend CSU Chico in the fall to study Agricultural Business. Taylor has learned the value of hard work and
preparation by showing horses at a young age in a variety of events including
cutting, Western, English, gymkhana, high school rodeo and most recently reined
cow horse. In addition to being recognized
for her academic excellence, she was also very active in the high school
athletic fields of basketball, tennis, volleyball, swimming and soccer. During the winter you may find her on the ski
slopes as a ski instructor or competing in slalom and giant slalom events. With a great deal of coaching experience
Taylor volunteers at many youth athletic camps and leagues. Her absolutely favorite part of the rodeo is
the pageantry of the grand entry.
Carollann
Rietta Scott
From the south Carollann Rietta Scott enters as Miss Aqua Dulce Women’s Club. The daughter of Ben and Tracey Scott is studying Journalism at the
University of Arizona. She worked her
way up from reporter to anchor of student campus television and upon graduation
plans to do the same at a television station in California. Carollann started competing in Jr. Rodeo and
placed on the state and national levels of Junior High and High School
Rodeo. She dedicates herself to giving
back to CHSRA as their Special Rodeo Coordinator and helping put on adapted
rodeos for special needs children throughout California. Currently a member of the UA Rodeo Team, she
has held offices, organized events and competed in breakaway roping, team
roping and barrel racing. Carollann was
nominated by the NIRA Grand Canyon Region for the Walt Garrison Award that is
presented to rodeo students who exemplify integrity, commitment, loyalty,
honesty, leadership and perseverance.
Erin Stueve
Miss Rodeo
Oakdale, Erin Stueve is the daughter of Robert
and Deborah Stueve. While currently
attending CSU Fresno as a Speech-Language Pathology major, Erin has hopes of
being admitted into their Masters Program to become a licensed, practicing
Speech-Language Pathologist by 2016. With past experience showing western pleasure and reining, she also
loves camping with her family and horses during the summer as a great way to
appreciate nature. In recent years
dedication to hard work, learning from awesome individuals and encouragement
from a loving family have given Erin the opportunity to represent great rodeos
and associations as their queen. Erin
has always been very involved in community service and volunteering. She has raised puppies for Guide Dogs for the
Blind and has volunteered at a summer camp for visually impaired youth. When not attending school or working, Erin
loves spending time outdoors snowboarding, wakeboarding and playing sports.
Grace Tobias
Grace Tobias is the
daughter of Charles and Lisa Tobias of Tres Pinos. She is representing her area as Miss San Benito Rodeo. Grace attends UC Davis majoring in Animal
Science with the goal of attending the School of Veterinary Medicine. While a participant of the UC Davis
Collegiate Livestock Judging Team and Livestock Show Team, she serves as the
Vice President of the Young Cattlemen’s Association of UC Davis. Growing up on a cattle ranch in San Benito
County and learning the necessary skills and techniques of the Vaquero
tradition has led Grace to compete in reined cow horse. Through her many 4-H experiences she reached
the high honor of California State 4-H Ambassador and works with the current
Ambassador team to organize the California State Leadership Conference that
will celebrate the 100th year of the 4-H program in California. Grace enjoys spending time with her family
and classic Mustangs.
Marin Wolgamott
Marin Wolgamott, a southern
Monterey County cowgirl, carries the title of Miss Cal Poly Rodeo. The
daughter of Duane and Brenda Wolgamott of Lockwood majors in Wine and
Viticulture with a concentration in Enology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. From planting, to bottling, and opening a new
tasting room, Marin has gained valuable experience as a part of her family’s
vineyard and wine business. She dreams
of traveling and working in the wine making countries of France and Italy. In addition to competing for three years on
the Cal Poly Equestrian Western Show Team, Marin has experience in cutting and
most recently reined cow horse events. Marin learned a great deal about agriculture, responsibility, leadership
and showmanship as an active 4-H member and believes in giving back to her
local 4-H community as a sheep project co-leader and volunteering a week of her
time at 4-H Summer Camp every summer.
