Pat Richardson, along with Western Music Association Composer and Performer
Songwriter of the year, three time winner of the Female Vocalist of the Year and
Entertainer of the Year, Juni Fisher; our very own Clem Albertoni will act as
Master of Ceremonies. Clem is a local legend and entertaining cowboy poet from
Soledad, California.
The Cowboy Poetry event will be held at the Steinbeck Institute of Arts &
Culture at 940 N. Main Street in Salinas on Friday July 12th. Doors
open at 5:00pm for the barbecue and wine tasting. Open mic starts at 5:30pm and
the show starts at 7:00pm. Tickets for the event are on sale now at the Salinas
Sports Complex Box Office at 1034 N. Main Street (open Monday – Friday 10am to
6pm) or by phone at 800-549-4989. They are $30 for adults for the poetry event
and $5 for children 12 and under. The Wine and Barbecue tickets are sold
separately and are $10 each. The barbecue includes Swiss sausage, salad and
beans. Proceeds benefit the Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries.
This special
evening is dedicated to the memory of Donna Alonzo Vaughan. Donna was the Committee
Chair for the Cowboy Poetry event for many years who, sadly, passed away in May
from a rare cancer. As the committee says, “Donna was our Wagon Master, Ramrod
and Trail Boss for this event; her love for poetry and dedication to the California
Rodeo Salinas’ Cowboy Poetry Gathering leaves a legacy that will live on in the
memories of all whose lives were touched by this amazing lady.”
