SALINAS, CA- July 25, 2013- The fourth and final day of the 103^rd California Rodeo Salinas was the best attended out of the five days of rodeo and bull riding action with over 15,000 people crowding into the Salinas Sports Complex on Sunday July 21st. The Professional Bull Riding event on Wednesday July 17^th kicked off the action with almost 9,000 people attending, boasting a 14.9% increase in attendance versus the same night in 2012. Thursday night July 18^th was the first performance of the California Rodeo Salinas and attendance was slightly up as 8,931 fans streamed into their seats. Friday July 19^th was another successful evening with over 11,500 people attending the Rodeo, socializing in the saloon and cantina and shopping on the midway. Saturday was the only day where the attendance numbers were slightly down from year to year with 11,632 patrons. Overall, attendance over the four days of Rodeo was up .4% at 48,660; combine the Rodeo numbers with the PBR numbers and 57,629 attended Big Week events.  

The week was full of rodeo action, bull riding, and motorcycle jumpers as well as the always entertaining act by the One Arm Bandit, John Payne, and his buffalo. The California Rodeo Salinas showcases the traditional rodeo events in the arena along with and constantly strives to improve the entertainment on the track that surrounds the arena and is closest to the main grandstand. Over 600 contestants traveled to this elite event to compete and showcase their skills at one of the top 15 rodeos in the United States. The All- Around cowboy was Bobby Mote from Portland, OR competing in the Bareback Riding and Team Roping.

Save the dates for the 2014 California Rodeo Salinas July 17^th-20^th and the Professional Bull Riding on Wednesday July 16^th, 2014. Bumper stickers with the 2014 Rodeo dates are available now at the Rodeo Office at 1034 North Main Street in Salinas. The Rodeo Board and Committees are recapping and making notes on how to improve the show for 2014.
