Due to the ongoing public health concerns with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the California Rodeo Association is canceling and/or rescheduling several 2020 events.
The Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2020 Contest has been canceled. Kelsee French, Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2019, will continue as the Rodeo’s ambassador for one more year. French, a resident of Hollister, CA, has been unable to participate in many events that are customary for Miss California Rodeo Salinas to attend due to COVID-19. The contest is presented by Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
The Colmo del Rodeo Parade, presented by Star Market and produced by the California Rodeo Association, has also been canceled. The parade was scheduled to take place July 11th.“The Colmo del Rodeo Parade is a wonderful annual community gathering that we are sad to see go, but this year is unlike any other and we are forced to make some tough decisions, just like so many other businesses and organizations impacted by the virus,’ said parade chairman and California Rodeo Salinas Director Mikel Ann Miller.
Cowboys, Cocktails, Rhythm and Rhymes, the Rodeo’s annual cowboy poetry event, that was previously postponed from the original May 9th date has been canceled. A 2021 date is in early planning phases and will be announced in the next few months. The event is presented by SSB Construction.
The Kiddie Kapers Parade has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 (previously scheduled for July 11th).Details about the theme, time and route will be posted to www.carodeo.com when they are available. The parade is presented by Sakata Seed America.
The California Rodeo Association previously announced that the 110th California Rodeo Salinas has been rescheduled for October 8th-11th, 2020. Other events that typically take place in or around Big Week are still being evaluated by the COVID-19 Response Committee which meets weekly to discuss updated information regarding the virus.Ongoing updates can also be found at www.CARODEO.com or by following @carodeosalinas on social media.
