Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night, presented by Mechanics Bank and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, drew 10,509 people to the Salinas Sports Complex for the first performance of the 112th California Rodeo Salinas. That total is up 625 tickets over 2019.
Thursday night, presented by Mechanics Bank and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, was full of fans in their pink shirts and cowboys hats cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls and helping their community at the same time. $1 from each ticket sold tonight will be donated to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System.
Highlights included the last bull rider of the night, Maverick Potter, scoring an 85 on Hell Hound owned by Four Star Rodeo Company. Potter is currently leading the bull riding. Other roughstock event leaders include bareback rider Cooper Cooke with an 84-point ride on Barracuda owned by Flying Five and saddle bronc rider Sage Newman with an 89-point ride on Holy Hoppin’ Hell owned by Bridwell Pro Rodeos. Timed event leaders include steer wrestler Stan Branco with a time of 14.1 seconds on two steers, Kreece Thompson and Chad Williams with an 8.5 second run in the team roping, Jordan Jo Hollabough with a total of 9.4 seconds on two breakaway runs, tie-down roper Black Ash with a time of 21.0 seconds on two calves and Michelle Alley in the barrel race with a time of 16.15 seconds.
