Most rodeos or major events have some
signature marketing pieces that help to promote their event. The California
Rodeo Salinas’ most recognizable piece of advertising is likely the yellow
bumper sticker often spotted around Monterey County and at other rodeos across
the country. The sticker features the Rodeo’s logo and dates each year; for the
past few years a contest has revolved around where the bumper sticker shows up
around the world. Loyal Salinas Rodeo fans take their bumper stickers with them
on vacation and submit photos to the Rodeo Staff to post on Facebook. Past
submissions have included photos from The Great Barrier Reef, Stonehenge, the
Eiffel Tower and more travel destinations; the bumper sticker is currently on
its way to Mt. Everest. Submit your photos to mlinquist@carodeo.com for a chance to win a digital camera donated
by Best Buy. The California Rodeo Salinas’ Marketing Committee will vote on the
best photo and choose a winner. The contest will run from May 1st to
June 15th.
Bumper Stickers can be obtained for free at
the California Rodeo Salinas Office at 1034 N. Main Street in Salinas Monday
through Friday from 9am to 5pm or by visiting an Oil Can Henry’s location in
Salinas, Watsonville or Soquel. Non-locals can purchase bumper stickers at www.carodeo.com for $1.
