The California Rodeo Salinas’
Heritage Museum is one of Salinas’ hidden gems. The building, located at the
Salinas Sports Complex at 1034 N. Main
Street, is home to an authentic Wells Fargo stagecoach, displays of rodeo clown
costumes and cowboy attire, saddles, cowboy hats, tack and more from the
Rodeo’s most famous alumni. It is open during the California Rodeo Salinas each
year in July and by appointment only throughout the year, but between May 18th
and May 29th, almost 1,000 local elementary school students will
walk through the doors to tour the facility and learn about the history of the
California Rodeo Salinas. The Wells Fargo Stagecoach room includes interactive
displays and there will be a leather artist on hand showing how to stamp
leather to make saddles, belts and more. Members of the Museum Committee will
serve as tour guides to the students and teachers and answer questions they may
have. The tours are presented by Mann Packing this year and on Friday May 22nd
and May 29th, Mann Packing will be on site with their pea pod
mascot, talking to the kids and giving them healthy treats.
The 105th California
Rodeo Salinas takes place July 16th-19th, 2015. During
those days, the California Rodeo Heritage Museum will be open before and during
the performances; there will be a jewelry artist on site as well as a leather
braider to observe while wandering through the museum. To learn more about the
museum and other Rodeo attractions and events visit www.CARODEO.com. To arrange media coverage of
